Mercedes lives her life between Lisbon and Madrid.
Graduated in Architecture and Graphic Design in Lisbon, since she was a student joined the experience of practice the profession in several architecture studios and that allowed her to started working in partnership with other architects, public and private companies.
Founded her architecture studio in 1997, she developed numerous private and public housing, office, service, restaurant, and hotel projects throughout the country. Her knowledge of construction work allows her to add research, planning, execution, management, and construction supervision to her team, both for her own projects and for several architectural firms in Lisbon.
Her technical expertise provides a variety of solutions and finishes through suppliers, master craftsmen, and artisans, whom she has worked with throughout her career. Her extensive experience with listed buildings and public heritage enhances her professional technical expertise in resolving conflicts between original construction methodologies and current solutions, ensuring that the architecture and identity of buildings are preserved. In the context of the rehabilitation of old and listed buildings, she has been and continues to be called upon to lead and coordinate inspection teams on several occasions.
